The soda water flows from the siphon through the siphon pipe to the siphon head, from where it exits through the outlet. The siphon pipe is sealed at the top by the pipe rubber.

Siphon pipe with pipe rubber installed

In working soda siphons, you will always find a siphon pipe, but not always in a good condition you prefer to drink through. If the part is missing, it is essential to replace the pipe and the pipe rubber. If the siphon has an unknown history, both of the parts should be replaced.

There are different sized tubes made for 1 and 2 litre siphons, but a tube which is long enough can be easily cut to the correct size. The pipes currently on the market are brittle and can be broken in the right place after a little cutting. For more information on where to buy, see the Bookmarks page.

Lower end of siphon pipe with V-shaped notches

The siphon pipe extends to the bottom of the siphon, so the lower end of the pipe should be cut in a V-shape on both sides to improve water flow. The shaping of the pipe this way is based on a decades-old tradition.
